January 20 - February 18
Aquarians enjoy lots of sensory stimulation: glittery, sparkly
things, quiet voices and music that's tinkly and otherwordly. Mini
Aquarians don't like being touched a lot. (This trait often carries
over to grown-up Aquarians who like you best if you don't crowd
them.) Nor do they like shut-in spaces, so be sure to have good
ventilation in the nursery. Aquarians prefer playing in groups where
each does his own thing, rather than the closeness of a single
companion. Little Aquarians can be stubborn once they get "fixed" on
an idea. It's important to teach them that other people and ideas
have validity and must be considered. Being literal-minded,
Aquarians learn best when given short, simple and clear
explanations.

Piscean babies have a vulnerable sweetness about them that rings out
the family's protective spirit and they soak up pampering. Small
Pisces are attuned to other people's unhappiness, and can lean
toward too much self-sacrifice. Piscean babies will often invent an
imaginary playmate because it's second nature for them to escape
into their rich inner world. Don't worry, they open up in time. It's
important to encourage their creativity, but they can also get lost
in the cast ocean of the life unless they are given secure
boundaries and routines.

March 21 - April 19
Baby Ariens are immediately aware of their surroundings. Ruled by
the fiery planet Mars, these babies show their courage early by
making bold eye contact (plus they're the earliest walkers in the
zodiac). Little Rams are easy to understand because, like most fire
signs, they're upfront rather than mysterious or withdrawn.
Encourage their penchant to take charge, but also be sure to
instruct them that no one likes bossiness. Make sure your Aries baby
has a variety of colorful toys because he is easily bored. You
needn't worry about tip-toeing around him, as Rams don't mind noise
and will, in fact, make plenty of their own. Don't be surprised,
though, it your Aries tot resists napping in a big way.

Taureans are earthy, practical and dependable -except when they get
fixed on something: then they become unyielding. These patient,
placid infants are usually good eaters and sleepers. They're born
with a strongly developed tactile sense and are very responsive to
touch. They can usually be quieted by rocking. They love satin and
velvet (may even fuss about any synthetic fabrics to hold and
stroke. They react strongly to odours, so if they don't like the
smell of a food, they'll clamp their jaw shut and refuse to eat.
Taureans thrive on routine and dislike change. Very possessive, they
feel everything belongs to them. It's important to teach them to
share

May 21- June 20
Geminis are the communicators par excellence - you'll hear murmuring
from the crib early on. They use their mouth as a learning tool,
too. They are willing to try almost any food, but since they are so
curious, it's important to monitor the things they pick up and try
to eat. These bright, charming, good humored babies need constant
stimulation. Only a few weeks old, they'll reach out for the mobiles
above the crib with surprisingly coordinated movements. Their need
to touch is strong, but they dislike being touched too much, perhaps
because, being an air sign, they need to be free to circulate. Tiny
Geminis hate repetition and love choices. Teach them continuity, but
by no means try to stifle their multiplicity of talents.

June 20 - July 21
These little ones are ruled by the changeable feminine Moon, and
have a lifelong attachment to their Moms for good or for bad. Little
Crabs deprived of loving mothering will often grown into suspicious,
withholding, professionally successful adults who spend most of
their lives acquiring and collecting to fill up the void. No matter
what their sex, all Cancerians are little mothers and caretakers:
they thrive on doing chores and playing house. An emotional Water
Sign, mini Cancerians are extremely vulnerable. They love places
they can crawl into and hide, just like the crab that withdraws into
its protective shell. They have the most sensitive stomachs in the
zodiac, so don't insist your baby each something against his will.

July 23 - August 22
Born in the fullness of summer, Leo babies are usually healthy and
outgoing. They crave attention and become morose if left alone for
too long. Since small Lions hog the limelight from day one, this can
be tough on siblings. They love being cuddled and talked to, and
especially enjoy having their backs rubbed gently. Leos are a fixed
fire sign and can be cranky, bossy and testy. But they are also the
most generous sign of all. They exhibit their leadership skills and
determinted personalities early on. Other tots follow them as a
matter of course. Because mini Lions seem to need outside approval
more than other signs, it's imperative to impress upon them that
their own opinions and sense of themselves are far more important
than others.

August 23 - September 22
Often serious and shy, cautiously observing everything with big
round eyes, quite Virgos will need many hugs and cuddles - but they
are sometimes too introverted to let you know what they want. Baby
Virgos fuss a lot. They seem to suffer from stomach discomforts more
frequently than other signs. They don't like being handled too much,
but they do need to be soother. An inexperienced parent may be put
off because tiny Virgos respond to sudden stimuli with the started
nervousness of a deer. Mini Virgos, like all earth signs, appreciate
habitual schedules and routine. They love to be of service to other
people; and even if they can't yet walk, give them small utensils or
a dust rag and let them mimic Mommy and Daddy.

Baby Librans are usually quite attractive with lovely friendly eyes.
Pleasing is a big thing with Librans from early on and they are
oriented to what others think, say and do. They love to be rocked
and talked to, and will feel secure if someone is in the room with
them. Pretty pastel colors appeal to Libran babies, and jarring,
garish colors upset their sense of harmony and peace. Librans avoid
confrontation, and have a persistent need to have everything smooth
and pleasant. What they must learn is that life is a bumpy ride.
They're popular children, much sough after. It's important to
impress upon them that they need to listen to their own feelings,
and not to things others want, just to be liked.

October 23 - November 21
Scorpios seem to be born with a warehouse of hidden knowledge.
Little Scorpions have deep, inquiring minds and will ask early on
about life and death. They also display sexual curiosity early.
Their eye intensity is their most notable feature and accounts for
their highly skilled eye/hand coordination. Scorpios rarely fuss;
they're too stoic. Highly intuitive, they sense your sad moods and
will offer sympathy. This loyalty is reserved for family and a few
intimate friends. Scorpios' calmness reassures everybody around
them. They know everybody's secrest but rarely disclose much about
themselves. That doesn't mean Scorpios don't have secrets of their
own. Actually theirs is probably the most emotional of all.

Good natured, alert, outgoing. Sagittarians need lots of sleep
because during their waking hours they gobble up the world. They
come into life with a "freedom fetish" and hate constraint of any
kind; be sure they're not wrapped too tightly in blankets or
diapers. They are impatient with themselves because they want to
master everything right away. Outspoken and honest, Sags must be
taught to be diplomatic. They are always in motion, and are
wonderful travelers. Take them anywhere and they'll adjust, but they
must be watched carefully, they tend to wander. Don't invest in
inexpensive toys or games because the consuming interest they once
showed will quickly dissipate. They take to pets easily, animal
stories are their favorites.
